Rotary Clubs of West Nassau and South East Nassau Partnership Joint WASH Project
The Rotary Clubs of West Nassau (RCWN) and South East Nassau (RCSEN) will participate in a joint WASH Project (Water, Sanitation And Hygiene). This project will also be done in with the support of University of The Bahamas (UB). The aim of the project will be to contribute to hand sanitation in the Bahamas especially in light of covid1-9 pandemic while supporting the Rotaract Clubs of the Bahamas.
About 20 Rotaractors and Rotarians will be engage in an education and training session where they will learn the basic chemistry involved in making hand sanitizers. They will then participate in physically making the hand sanitizers. The process will take approximately 4 hours and will be take place on Saturday April 10th starting at 10am at UB. The Rotary clubs will each contribute about $500 to the project ($1,000 total) which has the potential to yield about 500 bottles of hand sanitizer. With an estimated value of $5 each of the clubs including the Rotaract Club of Eleuthera has the potential to earn about $500 for their clubs through the sale of the products. RCWN and RCSEN members will assist with sales.
The sanitizer process is more of the alcohol-based type as opposed to the gel like personal use sanitizer and may thus be best suited for businesses than personal use although both are possible. See sample to right.
