Dear Fellow Rotarians,
November is the month dedicated to the Rotary Foundation and this year, President Ian Riseley places great importance on contributing to the Rotary Foundation. As District Governor of 7020 I want to encourage Rotarians to contribute more than ever before.
The Rotary Foundation is mainly funded by us Rotarians but also by Friends of Rotary from all over the World which help Rotary Clubs make a difference in our communities. Thanks to these funds, we can serve our communities with bigger, more sustainable and longer lasting projects in all Six Areas of Focus.
During our visit to the different islands, Rosa and I saw many clubs undertaking projects with the help of Foundation Global Grants and projects funded by District Grants but we can do even more! When we look at the needs in our communities we can be sure that, thanks to our contributions, we can help change lives and Make A Difference. Rotarians are eager to do greater projects but some are not comfortable in initiating Global Grants.
During the month of November I am asking the Assistant Governors to work with the Foundation Area Coordinators to work together and to offer training seminars on how to formulate and submit Global Grants applications so that the needs our Rotarians see in their communities can be fulfilled. By submitting GG applications to The Rotary Foundation, these projects can be made real!
As I mentioned in my message during my visits. Rotary is a tool for development and we all must learn to use it well. Nothing is impossible in Rotary and miracles will happen thanks to Rotarians.
As in Haiti after the Earthquake and last year after the passage of Hurricane Mathew, this year the islanders affected by the Hurricanes Irma and Maria will need to work on the reconstruction of their Territories. Rotarians can help in this effort by applying for Global Grants undertake projects that will meet their community needs.
